DONATIONS

FIRE could not operate without assistance from the community. We welcome your donation at any time, and invite you to participate in FIRE's annual Dining in the Dark benefit which takes place in October of each year.

NEW! Now donate online to FIRE through the Network for Good & Guidestar! This option enables you to use a credit card or paypal.

Many donations from individuals go to purchase supplies for people who are blind and can not afford them. Some examples of what your donation can buy are listed below:

$1 will buy an envelope writing guide, a check writing guide, a signature guide, 8 sheets of raised line writing paper, or 20 sheets of Braille paper;
$5 will buy tags for clothing identification, or a keyfinder (just whistle & it beeps);
$10 will buy a talking watch, a talking calculator, a liquid level indicator, Braille salt & pepper shakers, a talking thermometer, or Braille playing cards/UNO cards;
$20 will buy a white travel cane, a Braille calendar, or guide dog harness sign (Please don't pet me, I'm working!);
$50 will buy a talking scale, a Braille labler and tape, a voice phone dialer, or a voice remote control;
$150 will buy a talking color identifier, or a talking blood pressure monitor;
$300 will buy 12 weeks of training classes in Independent Living Skills, or 12 weeks of Computer Skills classes;
$350 will buy a talking microwave;
$650 will buy a software program to translate English into Braille, or a device that will scan bar codes to identify grocery items;
$1,000 will buy a talking computer software program;
$3,000 will buy a talking palm pilot that also includes a Braille display of what has been typed;
$50,000 will allow us to hire an additional Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist for one year;
$700,000 will allow us to provide services for an entire year!

As you can see, ANY amount can be extremely helpful! Please consider donating today. Simply mail your tax-deductable donation to: FIRE, 1286 Cedar Center Drive, Tallahassee, FL, 32301, or donate online at the Network for Good & Guidestar! This option enables you to use a credit card or paypal. We will send you a receipt for tax purposes, and please know - you are truly making a difference in the life of someone who has lost their sight! Thank you.
