History
A non-profit agency since 1983, FIRE provides free services for any person
who is legally blind in Franklin, Gadsden, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette,
Leon, Liberty, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor and Wakulla Counties.
FIRE is A United Way agency and fully accredited by the National Accreditation Council for Agencies
Serving the Blind and Visually Impaired (NAC). FIRE is a member of the United Way of the Big Bend, as
well as the Florida Association of Agencies Serving the Blind. FIRE receives
funding from the Florida Department of Education, Division of Blind Services,
the Community Human Services Partnership, the Capital Medical Society Foundation, The Able Trust, our Paula Bailey Dining in the Dark benefit, and
many community donations.
